Good fins should provide you with enough propulsion and thrust to easily handle the type of diving conditions you're into. Make sure you're always aware of ocean currents!

Fin comfort, fit and ease of use should also be prominent in your thinking. Full-foot fins are often recommended for snorkelling. They fit snugly with bare feet in tropical conditions, or can be used with a lightweight neoprene sock or reefshoe for extended use.
